When Matt was young his Dad worked long hours - Matt had to fend for himself in the kitchen so taught himself to cook, and decided he wanted to become a chef. His career began in a French Bistro age of 15, and by 18 Matt was training in the South of France for the summer seasons and spending the winter in the kitchens of London's Dorchester Hotel.

On moving to Devon Matt worked at the Turtley Corn Mill, and set up his own company Fred’s Kitchen, making chutneys and sauces. He also takes bookings for private dinner parties and even offers cooking lessons in your own home.

Matt loves to cook with local sustainable fish and enjoys fishing when he has the time. He also loves to paint, and Matt's creative flair is shown in his beautiful, colourful and exciting dishes.
